Portland’s Great Notion brewery adding taproom in Berkeley

The new brewing operation is taking over the former Sierra Nevada taproom space in Berkeley.

San Francisco Business Times – A popular Portland brewery, Great Notion, is expanding into Berkeley with a large former taproom space and application for a liquor license generally used by brewpubs and microbreweries.

Known for its hazy IPAs and culinary-inspired sours and stouts, Great Notion has five breweries across the Pacific Northwest and has hinted at future taprooms in California after establishing its first distribution hub in Sacramento last year. It’s taking over the former 2,057-square-foot home of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s “Torpedo Room” at 2031 Fourth St. which closed in July after a decade in business.
